Endowment Report 2021-2022

WE FUEL DISCOVERY AND CHANGE.

In 2018, we launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign in Lehigh history — and you have stepped up. GO: The Campaign for Lehigh is on its way to engaging more than 50% of all contactable alumni and raising more than $1 billion to support students, enhance campus, and invest in our research capabilities and new opportunities. We’re excited to share an update on how far we’ve come together. Here’s what happens when we GO: WE SOAR. The new Soaring Together Scholarship Program provides an unprecedented amount of support — full tuition merit scholarships, guaranteed funding for experiential learning, and career and professional development — for students dedicated to advancing gender equity. Launched with four foundational gifts from Mark Alpert ’70; Trustee Maria Chrin ’87 ’10P and John Chrin ’85 ’86 ’10P; Trustee Ann Lewnes ’83 ’22P and Greg Welch ’22P; and John Staub ’86, the program commemorates Lehigh’s milestone anniversary of coeducation and is open to applicants starting with the Class of 2027. WE BREAK DOWN BOUNDARIES. Thanks to the generosity of Cathy Engelbert ’86, Lehigh athletes will have the chance to grow and succeed like never before. The Cathy Engelbert ’86 LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Athletics, and Distinction) Scholars Program will uplift cohorts of women and male advocates and make a tangible impact on the development of women and girls at Lehigh and across the Lehigh Valley. WE BUILD THE FUTURE. GO is changing the face of South Mountain while preserving the spirit and integrity of the campus we know and love. From the now-open Health, Science, and Technology building and soon-to-be-complete Business Innovation Building, to the reinvigorated Cundey Varsity House, planned Indoor Field Facility, and reimagined Clayton University Center, the Lehigh of tomorrow is taking shape.

By investing in students and faculty through internships, research, and endowed chairs, you’re celebrating and supporting past, present, and future Lehigh people. Mike Zisman ’70 and his wife, Lisa Gamble, established the Zisman Family Chair in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in honor of Professor William L. Luyben, Zisman’s professor and a Lehigh faculty member since 1967. And Linda and D. Brooks Zug ’67 created the Community Health Student Internship Fund in the College of Health to support experiential and community-based learning opportunities for students. Thanks to your collective enthusiasm and generosity, we are closer than ever to achieving the bold goals and transformative vision of the campaign — and there’s still work to do. We’re grateful for everything you’ve made possible so far and excited about where we GO together from here.
